Batteries, power banks, must NEVER travel in checked baggage.
YES, you can take your spare/loose batteries and power banks with you as carry-on baggage ONLY. Spare/loose batteries including power banks, UPS and any other form of power providing device must NEVER travel in checked baggage.
Please note:
Each ticketed passenger is limited to a total of 2 (two) power banks, regardless of the Wh rating per person.
To ensure your spare/loose batteries and power banks etc travel safely, you must:
- Ensure each spare/loose battery is individually protected to prevent short circuits
- Ensure Lithium metal batteries have a lithium metal content that does not exceed 2 grams (except for a medical device which must not exceed 8 grams)
- Ensure Lithium-ion batteries have a Watt-hour rating that does not exceed 100 Wh without Operator Approval (spare/loose batteries and power banks exceeding 160Wh are prohibited. Exemptions apply for battery powered mobility aids only)
- Ensure you do not carry more than 20 spare batteries total
- You can request Operator Approval to carry more than 20 spare batteries
- Ensure you do not carry more than 2 (two) power banks total
- Ensure non-spillable batteries are 12 Volts or less AND 100 Watt-hours or less (a maximum of 2 per person is permitted).
